CUSP has many options — which is the best fit for you?

⚲ We can only offer services for people living and working in underserved areas.

Check out our self-study link below if you live in a well-resourced region.

  • I need training and a device

For people who want to start offering ultrasound services.

  • I have a device but need training

Virtual or in-person training to expand skills. Great for "baby's first picture" centers. We teach accurate pregnancy dating, how to tell if a pregnancy is in the uterus or possibly ectopic, and how to help clients get fast care.

  • I have the skills, but need a device

For people with solid ultrasound skills in a high-need region, who could offer affordable ultrasound services if provided with a device.

  • I want to learn on my own

Easy-to-navigate, animated self-study materials, with knowledge tests and detailed images to check your skills.

  • I want to teach

Coach others in ultrasound skills, virtually. Seeking commitment of 2-4+ hours a month, teaching learners through a structured teaching program.

⚲ We collaborate with TEACH: stay tuned for new CEU/CME ultrasound opportunities by early 2027.

⚲ We collaborate with the Reproductive Health Hotline: they offer real-time, live ultrasound image review (live video) if you have questions about your images.

Is the Fellowship right for you?

  • You already work with people seeking abortion care.

  • You live and work in a low-resource area, without other affordable, private and trustworthy ultrasound providers.

  • You have time for a lengthy training program: both virtual and in-person.

Who can apply?

  • Guided virtual coaching: an ultrasound expert will meet with you for three or more virtual sessions, training your eyes and brain on ultrasound basics and how to understand images.

  • In-person hands-on training: in Kansas or Ohio (travel assistance provided). We are working on other training locations.

  • On-demand review by clinicians: whenever you need, a clinician can link to your device through live video, and guide you to capturing good images and knowing what you see.

  • Long-term loan of pocket ultrasound device and iPad.

What do you get?

What we need from you -

  • Provide low-cost ultrasounds to those who need it by appointment or drop-in, on a regular basis (available at least two days a week).

  • Be listed in a private directory (through INeedAnA and/or AbortionFinder) for referrals from abortion providers, or in a public directory (so clients can find you).

  • Send anonymous, quarterly data for a year (honorarium provided)
