The Community Ultrasound Program (CUSP) offers training, ultrasound equipment, and ongoing support for doulas, community navigators, reproductive justice advocates, and clinicians.
Our goal:
People considering or seeking abortion services have information to make decisions about pregnancy options — without coercion or bias.
How we get there:
We train community sonographers to deliver private, affordable, and trustworthy ultrasound services in under-served regions.

We offer an alternative to anti-abortion pregnancy resource centers (crisis pregnancy centers/CPCs).
We help people in low-resource communities build skills to offer key information about pregnancy — is the pregnancy in the uterus, or could it be ectopic? How far along is the pregnancy?
We do not train certified medical technicians. Our work is focused on delivering accurate and unbiased information about pregnancy — not diagnostic ultrasounds.

Why We Do What We Do
Most people receiving telemedicine abortion care do not need ultrasound. Around 10% of abortion clients seek an ultrasound for confirmation of pregnancy duration or reassurance after taking abortion pills.
In the US, anti-abortion centers outnumber abortion clinics about 5:1. — Many of these centers provide coercive counseling, misleading information about abortion safety, and/or inaccurate information about ultrasounds.
With Medicaid cuts, fewer people have access to affordable, reliable ultrasounds.
